Harry Gale called the meeting to order at 9 am and introduced special guest Bob Giuda.
Bob has formed an exploratory committee regarding a run for the 2nd Congressional District. He is a former Marine fighter pilot, former selectman in Warren, NH,
three-time state representative, and former deputy leader for the GOP. He spoke briefly on his potential campaign and took questions.
Rep. Mead led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.
SECRETARY'S REPORT: Rodd motioned/Dennis seconded that the minutes be accepted. The motion passed unanimously.
TREASURER'S REPORT: Chris reported that as of 7/18/09, we had a balance of $649.72 in our account. Joe moved/Rodd seconded a motion to accept the report. The motion passed.
AREA VP - Robert Kasper reported on the need to organize at the town level. He is willing to help any towns. Interested individuals should contact him at rjklaw@comcast.net or 756-4200
EVENTS CHAIR - Dennis Vinci reported disappointment that the golf tournament had to be cancelled. However, we are planning for one to be held in 2010.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Lincoln Day Dinner - Don Gobin (reported by Harry) The 9/11 date seemed to generate some controversy and the speaker pool was limited because of too many other conflicting events on that date. Thus, the LDD committee is thinking of moving the event to Sept. 18. Huckabee has been contacted; Mitt Romney may be contacted, Sarah Palin sent a letter saying that she is not available. By the 9/18 date, we should have many more announced candidates for federal and state office as well. Those who bought tables for the event when it was scheduled for June will be renewing their commitments for September.
CHAIRMAN'S REPORT: Harry Gale reports that he has had to miss the last few state meetings, but Jay Flanders has been attending on his behalf.
CONCORD REPORT: Joe Osgood reported that the inflated revenue in the state budget will not be coming in as expected. While this should help us in our campaigns, it is not good news for us as citizens.
