Sullivan County Republican Committee Meeting - 8/15/09

Harry opens meeting at 9:00 A.M. (After the coffee and donuts arrive).
American pledge of allegiance is taken and led by State Rep. Beverly Rodeschin.
Secretary's report by Dave Roark- He thanks Margret Drye who took the minutes in July (minutes were e-mailed and given out here.) Motion by Steve and second by Ernie. Due to Beverly's absence last meeting she has abstained in this vote.
Treasurer's Report reported by Harry Gale for Chris Vinci- Beverly asked for its tabling to accept report that states no changes from last month. Motion made by Don Clarke and second by Dave Roark.
Senator Bob ODell's report- He is out due to family issues.
State Representative report by Beverly- October 28th a veto vote will occur on medical marijuana and judge retirement age requirement. The state senate vote on the marijuana was very close. There is also another issue set for that day, the state has appealed on the medical malpractice, (Money to balance the budget). The counties and municipalities will be taking the state to task on their down shifting on things such as retirements.
Area Chair report- Rob Casper is out. The state budget is the biggest issue at the state level, chairman Harry Gale mentions.
Events chairman report- Dennis Vinci is out. No report available.
Lincoln Day Dinner fundraiser report- Don Gobin is out today. Harry notes of what was recently discussed with Don Gobin. Beverly wants the location clarified.
Chairman's report by Harry Gale- Harry attended the Grafton Co. golfing tournament in which he has sold some of our countie's dinner tickets for our fundraising. The state party has a theme started of "it's the budget, stupid". Harry wants to have a full slate of candidates and funding for them. Beverly wants to know the dates of filing.
Communications report/public relations by Steve Smith- Do not use Yahoo it is easily hackable from anyone. He watched over e-mails and events associated with Obama's visit in Portsmouth. He has not seen many totally committed people moving up in their activism. Beverly states that she has seen some movement in activism. Steve suggests putting out some flyers on our issues to the public.

New Business- Steve Cunningham requests for a more targeted subject specifications on e-mail of official business.
